The busy 2004 tournament calendar of the Czech Golf Federation featured five prestigious events featuring hundreds of players from the CR and abroad. The improving sporting level and attractiveness of these Czech championships are also reflected in the continuing interest among foreign golfers.
During this season, these Czech open golf championships attracted a total of 633 players. The number of foreign golfers is encouraging. A total of five domestic championships attracted 109 foreigners, representing an average of 17% of the starting field. The greatest interest was in the Czech International Senior Amateur Championship in Karlovy Vary, where the flags of other European countries decorated almost half of the starting field.
Let’s take a look at this year’s winners of individual international championships of the Czech Republic:
Czech International Matchplay Championship May 25-28, Golf Resort Mladá Boleslav
In the men's category, the winning Timotej Formánek from Golf Club Hodkovička forced Jan Wdówka to settle for silver for the second year running. After a balanced Austrian women's final, Katharina Schroll took home the title.
Czech International Boys & Girls Amateur Championship (U18) July 18-20, Greensgate Golf & Liesure Resort, Dýšina
German Michael Mayer dominated the Boys category, and the winners on the podium of the Girls category were purely Czech, as Kristýna Malinová from AGEL Golf Mstětice took first place.
Czech International MID-Amateur Championship 2024 presented by Pilsner Urquell, July 18-20, Mstětice
Vlastimil Miler from the Royal Beroun Golf Club was the only one in the tournament to play all rounds under par and took home a well-deserved victory in the MID category. Kristýna Frýdlová from Albatross Golf Resort Prague became the champion in the main female category of LADY MID. Michal Talanda from Golf Club Brno dominated the PRE-MID category after a great performance. Karolína Stará from Golf Club Brno was delighted with her victory in the LADY PRE-MID category. Jan Hlávka from the Královský Golf Club Malevil took gold in the MASTER MID 35+ category. Silvie Dittertová from the Royal Golf Club Mariánské Lázně dominated the LADY MASTER MID 35+ category.
Czech International Senior Amateur Championship August 13-15, Golf Resort Karlovy Vary
In the strongest-occupied Seniors category, Attila Pál from Golf Club Black Bridge won a narrow victory. Martina Fulínová, a star from Karlovy Vary, won the Lady Seniors category with a spectacular fifth title in a row. Josef Novák from Golf Club Pardubice achieved a consistent performance to defend his title in the Master Seniors subcategory.
Czech International Amateur Championship August 7-10, Golf Resort Karlovy Vary
The tug-of-war of Matouš Zach from Prague City Golf with German rivals was resolved only in the final shootout, in which the Czech golfer prevailed. Zach’s excellent conclusion ensured that the title of the Czech international champion in the men's category remained at home for 2024. A big surprise came in the female category at the expense of Veronika Kedroňová. After her tremendous hesitation, Tereza Zavřelová from Golf Club Brno went on to celebrate victory in the prestigious international tournament. And she added this individual triumph to this year's club title in the Extraliga league
